    Draw From Names about

What participants want to know most in a giveaway is whether the result is fair. When you paste the list of names, the tool picks the winners with the browser's secure random number generator; the names are never sent to any server.

    Instagram comment giveaway

    1. Copy the usernames of the people who commented on the post into a list.
    2. Remove those who didn't follow the rules (e.g. didn't tag a friend) from the list.
    3. Paste the list, enter the number of winners and press “Draw”.
    4. Pick 1–2 extra people as backup winners.

    For a transparent giveaway

    • Run the draw on a live stream or with a screen recording.
    • Announce the entry requirements and end time in advance.
    • Announce the winner, and move to a backup if they don't respond within a set time.

If the same person commented more than once

If everyone gets one entry, remove duplicate names from the list; if each comment counts as an entry, leave it as is.

    FAQ

Draw From Names — what people ask

Can I run a giveaway from Instagram comments?

You can paste the commenters' usernames into the list and run the draw; the tool doesn't connect to Instagram, the list is the names you enter.

Can the same person win twice?

No; the draw has no repeats. If the same name is in the list twice, it has two entries.

    Can I pick backup winners?

Yes; enter the number of winners including backups, and the later names become backups.

    Is the selection really random?

Yes. The browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) and the Fisher–Yates shuffle are used.

What if the number of players doesn't divide evenly into teams?

The extra players are distributed to the teams in turn; teams differ by at most one person.
